experiment with binding hardbound books

Johnathan found these neat old covers when we took a trip to Pettingell Book Bindery



So I made him sketchbooks! I've never bound hardbound books before, and it seems like it's hard to find clear directions on how to do it. But hooray internets!


I generally got the gist and yeah.. I think these turned out pretty well considering. There's some thing's I'd like to do differently, of course. The orange one was the original guinea pig.




Here you can see the 'tails' of the spines, and the signatures. The stitching was the easy part, the gluing- the hard.

I had to add credits to the Junkyard Jousting, Cris Schenck ( I don't know if I spelled that right) wants to put it in the spring show.
Anywho, same old stuff, with boring credits at the end, and my name strategically placed last. Ha! :)
